How Our Concept Started
SVL Souvlaki Bar was born from a simple idea: bring the authentic flavors of Greece’s neighborhood souvlaki shops to our local community without compromising on quality, freshness, or tradition.
Growing up in a Greek family, food was always more than a meal—it was how we celebrated, connected, and welcomed others. Some of our favorite memories were gathered around the grill, sharing freshly prepared souvlaki, hand-stacked yeeros, homemade dips, and recipes that had been passed down through generations. We wanted to recreate that same experience and share it with everyone who walked through our doors.
When we opened SVL Souvlaki Bar, our vision was different from the typical fast-casual restaurant. Instead of relying on frozen or pre-made ingredients, we committed to preparing our food the traditional way. We hand-stack our yeeros, marinate our meats daily, make our sauces in-house, and use premium ingredients like extra virgin Greek olive oil, fresh lemons, garlic, and imported Greek oregano from the mountains of Taygetos. Every meal is cooked fresh to order because we believe authentic Greek food should never be rushed.

Boy oh boy where do I start. as soon as I walked in I felt the authentic Greek culture coming from the kitchen. smells absolutely delicious inside. the nice boy Christian in the front was very nice and helpful in taking our order. The food was absolutely delicious, best chicken souvlaki and French fries in Astoria. 10/10 all around.
